From uploader: "Originally recorded for the Discovery Channel by Itronx Imaging, the sequence shows a rattle snake striking a foot, with the venom spray clearly seen. Recorded with the Photron 1024 at 1,000 frames per second (fps) and a shutter exposure time of 1 millisecond. the resolution is 1,024 24-bit pixels wide, by 512 high.

Phew! Fortunately the snake was actually only striking a BOOT not foot...

It's 6 secs from the point of strike initiation and bite release for the film.

Actually, it would be a LOT faster than that without the high speed camera.

This would be why I wear boots that also come up past my ankle when I go hiking . . . I love snakes, but I'd rather not be kissing buddies with one. But for anyone who thinks they're faster than a snake . . . think again. lol

Upvote for enough detail to see the venom running down the side of the boot. Not too bright of the snake, but it's still cool.
