snoozedoctorsays...The physiology of sleep is fascinating. It is an active neural process rather than a passive one. Cognitive and motor skills deteriorate after prolonged sleep deprivation. After 24 hours the effect is similar to a blood alcohol content of 0.08%. Although as impaired, I don't think they ticket you for DUI of sleep deprivation.
Solo sailboat racers are also making use of the newest findings that if sleep has to be limited, it's best to catnap rather than have it all at once, something that doesn't seem logical. If limited to 3 hours of sleep in a 24 hour period, studies suggest it's better to have six 30 minute naps, one every 4 hours, rather than one 3 hour sleep. Interesting stuff.
eric3579says...Great post Winkler
Trancecoachsays...meanwhile, adults who play videogames are statistically more likely to remember their dreams than nongamers, statistically more likely to have lucid dreams than nongamers.
What do you think this says about videogames and learning?
