You'd be surprised.

I don't know any little kids who would voluntarily hit themselves in the face THAT HARD, but I do know some pretty dumb ones.

He learned a quick lesson in physics.

Its absolutely the physics lesson thing. Many times, I have told my kids what is about to happen to them when they are doing something whacky involving balance and objects in motion, but nope, they don't listen, so you just sit back and watch them learn.

Sigh, maybe we do need more Ritalin prescribed to our kids...at least for 6th grade science class when you learn about levers, fulcrums, friction, gravity... Newton's laws. If I ever decide to teach children I will use youtube for numerous lectures.
