NetRunnersays...Yeesh, these Bush flunkies can't seem to muddle through any conversation without telling a big pack of *lies.
To one extent it is true that usually aid is usually delivered by military vessels -- what they leave out is that the military vessel is usually a hospital or supply ship. In the case of Georgia, they used a Coast Guard Cutter (the Dallas) which is innocuous enough, but they also sent the USS Mt. Whitney which is a Command/Control (or Electronic Warfare) vessel, and the USS McFaul, which is a brand new Missile Destroyer.
Never mind the bigger lie, where he claims with absolute certainty that all fault rests with Russia in this conflict.

jmzerosays...Helping Georgians or helping Americans is a false dichotomy, and is especially weak when you consider the cost of this effort opposed to, say, the war in Iraq. This idea of saving money through a more hands-off foreign policy is a strong point for Paul in general, but he's overworking it here.
Americans inability to find Georgia is immaterial, and I don't think he's going to get a lot of traction on the general idea of "let's not waste money by sending people humanitarian aid".
Now there's a more general point of "who should we be cheering for" in this, but Paul doesn't provide anything terribly convincing on this front. I've heard convincing arguments on both sides. Anyways, what I wish Paul had been asking was more pointed on this in particular - are we sure the Russians are the bad guys here?
Irishmansays...^
His point isn't "let's not waste money by sending people humanitarian aid", his point is "let's not waste money defending an oil pipeline which is keeping only a small number of special interest groups rich"
As for Ron Paul's 'not terribly convincing' who should we be cheering for, I don't think anybody who has a working thinking brain inside his head instead of the quite obviously non-working gelatinous blob inside jmzero's head, would even bother getting into cheering on anybody involved in the Georgian conflict.
America needs to get out of Iraq, Afghanistan, Georgia and Ukraine, and the only reason Americans aren't kicking in the Whitehouse doors is because most of them haven't got a fucking clue what's going on.
GeeSussFreeKsays...Well, as much of a Ron paul fan I am, he was rather incomplete in his arguments. It actually seemed like he was in a rush and was only there to say a little peice of his mind and run. What was that meeting anyway?
If you know Ron paolitics, then the context of his ideas are a little more complete, but this little rant doesn't really get to that place of understanding that Ron Pual is usually all about. Him getting up and running out of the room seems to be an indication of that.
TBH, looking at most of the CSPN stuff like this seems rush and thrown together like so many school plays One has to give it to these guys about how much stuff they most likely have to do in one day...I be at a loss of words a lot because of the hurried nature of the beast
CaveBearsays...This Daniel Fried is quite the twerp.
