Zifnab"The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called the Third Age by some, an Age yet to come, an Age long past, a wind rose.... The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of time.

But it was a beginning."
Robert Jordan fought a valiant fight against cancer. It is a sad day, Robert Jordan will be missed. RIP

Tandrielsays...I checked dragonmount from time to time and it was all looking like he was successful in fighting his cancer, so this is very sad news to me. May he rest in peace.
looriscancer? I understood it was a blood/heart strange disease. Well whatever, doesn't change anything.
Sigh.
FletchAmyloidosis. It's a blood disease that was causing his heart walls to thicken (as I understand it).
I was really sad to read on Bluesnews that he passed away Sunday afternoon. One of my favorite authors, and I've spent many, many hours reading the WoT books (and rereading them all every time a new one was released). No other books have sucked me in like they have. Usually when I close a book, I don't really think about it until I pick it up again, but these books... I always thought about what was happening or going to happen, the world and characters were just so fully fleshed out and realized. Great books. Just really sad to hear of his passing.
loorisI totally agree with you here, Fletch. Same for me.
- It's not fair.
- Death never is.

supersaiyan93Man, i'm shocked to hear this. I'm only on book 4 right now.
It's a real shame to see that the series will not get completed due to his passing. The man had a gift, that's for sure.
He will be missed.
ZifnabHe had been working on the final book with his wife while he was taking treatment. As far as I understand it she will be able to complete the final book.

looristhank you zifnab, that was fast!!
ZifnabMy pleasure, lets hope it makes it out this time.
UsesProzacI can't WAIT to read the final book. May he rest and peace and not leave us hanging anymore.
Reylorsays...Robert Jordan is the reason I started reading fantasy, and was a childhood hero of mine. I wanted to write epic books when I grew up. I finally got the chance to meet him at a book signing in Denver (Book 8's release). Just listening to him talk about the Wheel of Time let me that much further into the world he created, and it was an honor and a privilege to have enjoyed that world.
He will be sorely missed.
