swedishfriendsays...and 80% of development and advertising money that a drug company spends comes from government funding! We spend huge amounts of tax money in order to then also spend more for the drugs and healthcare. The corporations and the rich own this country and the mainstream media. But the people masses still choose which politician gets elected so the people basically let it happen at their own expense. This fact shows you how important the role of mainstream media is in keeping the people voting against their own best interests.

shponglefansays...On the one hand I kinda see Santorum's point: if a person has a bunch of optional expenses then they shouldn't really be complaining about a necessary expense.
But we don't really know what this woman's situation is. I think having a basic phone is pretty necessary in today's society, but the cost would be a minor fraction of paying for those prescriptions. OTOH, if she's forking over $200 a month for a cell phone, but complaining about $200 a month for prescriptions, then that doesn't add up.
But for a lot of people, $2400/year for prescriptions is a big expense and can make it tough to make ends meet.

They'll just say "Why aren't these people sucking corporate cock for extra cash? I mean that's standard for everyone ain't it?"
Yogisays...I had an enlightening experience about regulations and how it effects companies from state to state. I just moved to Seattle Washington...and I thought "Hey I used to live in LA the insurance for my car has gotta be cheaper here than there, it just makes sense." Nope not even close...was on the phone with a car insurance guy telling me not to change my insurance because it would be more expensive. Apparently Californias is one of the cheapest places for car insurance in the country and why? Because of regulations that bring the price down to a manageable level. Yet I still get insurance because the companies still want the business...they don't like that they can't BILK me but they still want my money.
So I don't get why we can't regulate these companies who sell drugs in Canada for MUCH MUCH less and do fine. They're just trying to make as much as possible and they're hurting Main Street. Let us please do something democratically.
packosays...it's all money
