Radio Host Says Colbert Stole Joke

http://news.aol.com/newsbloggers/2007/09/19/radio-host-sues-stephen-colbert-for-stolen-joke/

Cenk Uygur, host of Air America's morning show "The Young Turks" is suing Stephen Colbert of "The Colbert Report"for $65 million. Mr. Uygur charges that Mr. Colbert has stolen his jokes on many occasions, but he can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that his "Klingon joke" of September 7th was directly pilfered by Mr. Colbert and recycled on his September 11th program on Comedy Central.

pathetic, for a start colbert did it better, and secondly it's an obvious joke that could easily have been thought up by more than one person. publicity stunt.

I remember there was a bit that Ze Frank did that appeared on the Colbert Report soon after as well, so maybe he is a joke thief! Or at least one of his writers is.

they both stole the idea of the klingon.

i mean, you don't "invent" jokes, they occur to you because of what you have seen. they occur to more than one person. maybe someone in a bar somewhere is like "hey, the young turks stole my joke!".

OK, I can see if it was an elaborate joke that was told in the same way, then someone could be guilty of stealing a joke (Mencia). But comparing the republicans to klingons and presenting it in completely different ways, please.
