EMPIREsays...it's amazing how 24-hour news networks don't seem to have enough time in the day to deal with all the news, and have to go use crap-"news" like charlie sheen or some other non-important non-issue.
Shit... if I had a 24 hour news network, and in my country that particular day was a slow news day, I would go looking for more important news somewhere else in the world. There's almost 7 billion of us. There is ALWAYS something actually relevant and actually important going on.
MrFiskIt's not surprising when you consider that: five companies produce 80 percent of the U.S. media, the best-selling magazine is People, and advertising revenue plummeted after the invention of the World Wide Web.

bareboards2A major problem is that America's news outlets are all profit driven.
Charlie Sheen is the lead story because Charlie Sheen draws eyes. Eyes mean $$.
How do you fight human nature? Especially when it is in the major corporations' best interests (ie $$ and more $$$) to "sell" the fluff?
I fear for us.
