They took away the traffic lights which made the intersection safer and traffic move slower. Wild outcome.

Well known phenomena. Drivers are much more careful when there is no light or stop sign, accidents go down and actually, you increase traffic through put. Wild huh? And Americans instinctively will raise their hands against traffic circles instinctively.
