NetRunnersays...Huh, so this is unusual in Canada?
Here we have whole networks dedicated to nonstop attack ads to tide us through those non-election years.
I think they're called Fox News, and MSNBC.
Throbbinsays...Yeah, but MSNBC, while admittedly partisan, is at least intelligent and factual.
Olbermann + Maddow = Partisan win!
10419says...I don't think you get it, Throbbin; i will admit that MSNBC is much more witty and intellegent, it is still wrong for the same reasons that fox is. It's still partisan.
It might be hard to see, granted. I'm Canadian; I watch the CBC. Going from the completely unpartisan CBC to garbage like MSNBC and Fox, I have to feel sorry for the viewers of both for being so misled.
NetRunnersays...^ You guys should be proud of CBC.
I'm pretty proud of PBS, I'm not so proud of how it's totally ignored in favor of commercial media.
I agree that it's a low bar, but I still maintain that MSNBC has been reliably factual in its reporting, whereas Fox News has had a lot of factual errors that conspicuously play to their viewer base.
I'd be happy to scrap 'em both though if people would treat PBS and C-SPAN as being their primary TV news source.
Unfortunately, it seems to take people with an abundance of personality to pierce the unusually thick skulls Americans have these days, and I'll settle for an impassioned, simple, partisan explanation of the issues over a more balanced one that people will tune out.
I just wish Fox would use real facts, and real history when they're making their impassioned, simple, partisan explanations of issues, because what they do now leaves us with about a third of our populace thinking that FDR caused the great depression, and that middle class tax cuts are "radical socialism".

And there's probably not a damn thing you or anybody could ever do to change their minds.
That kind of American is quite happily ensconsed in his ignorance.
The best we can do is keep pushing on and forget about them.
