HaricotVertsays...Pointers are one of the harder (hardest?) concepts to grasp in C programming, and this video actually did a very good job in explaining how to properly use and allocate pointers.
InvaderSilsays...I wished I had that back in 99. oh well. I don't work with C any more these days.

But especially since they're using C, it would also be nice to explain why it works like that, it's quite simple. Binky's wand of pointer assignment isn't actually magic, it just copied an address (an integer number, just like the pointees) from the x variable to the y variable. Each pointer could also be a clay ring that holds a value, but it's an address for the "pointee". I guess Binky exploded because the uninitialized pointer int *y happened to be pointing at his head
