Go behind the scenes at Stan Winston Studio during the creation of the iconic creature for John McTiernan’s sci-fi/action classic Predator (1987).

The action/sci-fi/horror film was about a military rescue unit, led by Major Dutch Schaefer (Arnold Schwarzenegger), on a mission to retrieve allies captured in the jungles of Latin America. In the course of their mission, they encounter an alien predator, an extraterrestrial big game hunter, capable of sophisticated camouflage that renders it invisible.

It's amazing how well the creature effects on Predator (and Aliens) have aged. Some of the other effects (the camouflage, the opening shot of the spaceship*) are obviously very 80s, but the creature itself still holds up.

*promote one of my all time favourite movies and a true legend in his field; Stan Winston.

* shouldn't have been in the movie!
