Open up! Police!

He's gonna catch hell for this in the squad room.

If this wasn't a training exercise, he'll be lucky if he doesn't get busted back to basic training for that crap. He violated any concept of proper tactics - not preparing for the possibility of the first two kicks not working, turning his back to the action, moving in front of the door where a perp is likely to shoot, not having another officer ready with the keys...mind boggling. I think he didn't even have a weapon at ready. He could easily have gotten himself and his fellow officers killed.

If he isn't in training, he should be. He kicked low, to the side, about everywhere other than adjacent to the striker where you're supposed to kick. The farther from that the more the door rather than the lock flexes and absorbs the blow, the closer to the latch or lock the more direct the impact to what you're trying to break.

Not to mention a full extension of the leg for maximum force. And like drattus said. The closer to the lock you kick the better your chances are of breaking the lock on the first kick. Also kick with the heal since it's harder and will have more direct force from the leg then sending the contact through the toes which are more likely to break.

yah. dude in uniform knows less about breaking a door down than commenters on a video website. wtf. do they even train these people or do you just get a gun on day one if your attitude is badass enough?

conansays...

doesn't he know that people actually get proper doors? what was that cop thinking? seriously, i am convinced no one would be able to kick in my door. it has three bolts (top, middle, bottom, each thicker than a thumb) and is so heavy that one person alone can not lift it.

i think that cop just watched to much crappy tv cop shows where they use plywood as doors :-)
