Well, that's right: all his critics are snobby grammarians... that's THE ONLY group against him.

Here is the problem eith Keith Olbermann's recent pwnage of beck: the way in which Keith is going about criticizing him falls nicely into a category that Beck can set aside for his viewers and write off as left-wing sarcasm, instituted by some ivy-league snob.

I always am on the same page as Olbermann, but I think he may want to considder (not even change, but just CONSIDER) his tone, because there is a way in which this kind of commentary fuels the martyr complex of people like beck.

There's just no matching Beck for crazy, but I wouldn't exactly call Olbermann the voice of reason either. Both MSNBC and FOX are just a sad reflection of the state of mainstream media that is trying to pawn itself off as 'news'.

My feelings are always rather mixed about Olbermann and Maddow's use of humor.

On the one hand, it's part of the attraction of their shows to me. But I think it can stand in the way of either of them being taken seriously about their journalism (and Rachel's in particular can be top notch).

Olbermann under Bush was also really good about elevating stories that were otherwise being ignored because reporting on them would seem "partisan".

As for Olbermann taking shots at Beck's intelligence, I think it's the way people should be reacting to him.

Personally, I think everyone should be pushing back against any idea that there's something wrong with being well educated. It's wrong to think that the well-educated are entitled to a higher place in our social hierarchy than anyone else, but it's not wrong to expect people who're supposed to be "informing" you on the news to know how to spell oligarchy, and quote former Presidents correctly.

Glenn beck is playing you, acting like a fool to get extra attention, just like Ann Coulter. Ignore him.

Beck is a clever contrivance. They've just over egged the custard with the Howard Beale thing. I'm sure even a lot of the demographic Fox target think he's a twat.
