What he does in the video is visually lay down the basic components of the song, roughly following the beat and progression, seeing if the concept would work.

He then mocks up a small version using nails, oranges, forks, shoes, canned food and brooms.

While I appreciated seeing the planning stage. I was always curious about the actual video and what AV techniques they used to blend so many repeating components without losing cohesion of visual progression.

his brother Twist does all the computer jibbery-joob; Michel comes up with analog ideas.
