Neither of you play TF2 then, he is using the cloak and dagger, a new item for the spy that allows cloak to recharge while standing still, while forgoing the ability to recharge the cloak using ammo boxes.

when i used to play tf2 i actually made that same embarassing mistake quite a bit

I haven't played TF2 since the spy/sniper update. The new items are supposed to give you an advantage in one aspect while at the same time having a disadvantage over the item it replaces, but the cloak and dagger gives the spy too much of an advantage over the standard cloak with little disadvantage.

A dead spy gets my vote any day though. Especially a *fail spy.

He's staying cloaked for so long using the new spy unlock Cloak and Dagger that allows you to stay stealthed, and the stealth to recharge while standing still, but it also counts down WAY faster then normal stealth, so while moving you can't stay stealthed for nearly as long.

Also the C&D doesn't recharge from ammo pickups like the standard cloak does. Some prefer the standard one, but I really like the C&D.
