I worked directly outside of Brian Fargo's office for a couple years, and my social anxiety was so bad that I never even spoke to him more than the occasional greeting in passing. I'm such an idiot.

You sound like me. However, I did meet David Braben at E3 in 2014 in person in his booth which I was not expecting! I even asked him about a Linux port for Elite:Dangerous game and got a picture with him even though I am not an Elite fan (my friend wanted me to go there!).
