She's been putting that on since she moved to Britain years ago. I'd rail on her for being fake, but I've known people like that. They can't help but take on the characteristics of those they're around, its not a wholly conscious act from my observations. Plus she's an entertainer, and well that's kind of what they do.

Her art is her transformation. She makes a new avatar every week, and was in my estimation the first to really do so. I wonder if Louise is even home anymore. I forgive her the affect. Y'all ever spent any time in the south? I drawl like a good ol' boy if I'm down thar for a few too many day.

My step-brother moved down-under years ago and hearing him talk now is hilarious- he fits all the Aussie stereotypes- real "Shrimp on the Barbie" crap. Not an affectation I'm sure, but certainly mock-able.

But, whatever you do, don't download her music without paying her!!! Wait, that was a little while ago...now she's just glad the kids think she's relevant.

Poor thing exhibits all the signs of OCD. I'm sure she hates herself as much as most of us.

I've heard Madonna with a much thicker fake accent so I suspect someone's tried to talk her down a bit. Still annoying.

Also, I think it's weird when Americans use English idioms.

Madonna doesn't say it here but "Sus out" is one that seems to have fully crossed over: many American TV personalities (Bill Maher, Conan, etc) now use this idiom regularly. They're free to use it, of course, but it's weird. What's next, lorries and lifts?

Her's didn't bother me so much as Gillian Anderson's. Depending on who she's talking to, her voice transforms from British to American. I can see picking up a little, but geesh she sounds like the locals.

I'm convinced once you reached a certain age it's sorta fixed. Most of my 20s was spent away from the south US where I grew up. My accent became more generic-y American.... more mid-west. Once I moved back to the south, I spent the next 10 years there without recovering the drawl. Well, at least the heavy drawl that's there.

This is according to my husband really. Personally, I still think I sound southern.. especially when I drink.

I think Madonna may be speaking a variation of Fauxbrit. It's official, look it up!
