MP Practices his (air) guitar chords during debate

Graham Evans, a Conservative MP, has been criticised for not paying attention when Liam Fox, the Defence Secretary, defended sacking 11,000 troops in the House of Commons - and playing air guitar instead.

The MP for Weaver Vale was practising chords using a rolled up Parliamentary order paper for a guitar while Dr Fox discussed job losses announced in the Strategic Defence Review and admitted that more could follow.

Michael Dugher, a shadow defence minister, accused the Conservatives of treating job losses among the military "like a joke".

He said: "Tory MPs were messing about during the statement like the whole thing was some sort of joke. Well, it's no laughing matter to our Armed Forces and their families."

I don't think that the MP was being inconsiderate at all. Musicians often practice in this way when people are talking. Non-musicians might see it as inconsiderate but that's because they don't know!
