The song deals with the struggle for liberation of the tamil minority in Sri Lanka. For the line "Like PLO i don't surrend-o" the clip was refused airplay on MTV.

Sunshowers indeed. Arular was great with the headphones on the Greyhound around Medicine Hat. That was a few years ago, so thanks for posting!
