Stormsingersays...I love the magic wand she has....the car companies go out of business and millions lose their jobs, but "someone will step up" and start new car companies. That's a pretty amazing level of self-delusion to think that would happen here. As Letterman pointed out, the new companies would most likely be in China.
She's certainly not helping to moderate the Tea Party's reputation as a bunch of nuts.
longdesays...To the contrary, having a 'granny'-like figure helps their image greatly.
burdturglersays...^ no question about it. I was going to put "sweet old lady" in the tags.
She's soft spoken and managed to do a full 10+ minute interview on national TV without sounding like a complete raving lunatic.
She does makes crazy taste like a cool glass of lemonade. The whole thing left me feeling sucker punched. Maybe I've been wrong about this whole tea party thing? Grandma just served me a nice slice of warm apple pie and I'm sorta sleepy now ...
I will add insidious to the tags.
KnivesOutsays...But... why is she on Letterman?
To clarify: there are "movements" with larger followings than the Tea Party that are getting a lot less press.
See marijuana legalization and immigration reform.
Stormsingersays...Her -appearance- may moderate their reputation...her words and concepts reek of magical thinking, and have little to do with truth, logic, or historical perspective. Her primary appeal will be to those who value appearance over substance... And frankly, that's pulling supporters from the same shallow end of the gene pool they're already recruiting from.
