Larry Lessig has a solution to all your political problems

I found this important in light of recent developments in the health care bill. Lawrence Lessig is pushing a bill to change the way campaigns for the US congress are funded. Among other things, it would disallow campaign contributions bigger than a given amount, which should make it more difficult for corporations to exert pressure on the policies of individual congressmen.

Talk about naive, Don Quixote-ish goals...

You'd have a better chance of propelling yourself across the sky by eating beans than you do with any proposal to eliminate the power of the wealthy to buy politicians. There -might- be a handful of politicos who would actually support such a proposal, and there's plenty who would pretend to support it as long as they're sure it'll fail. But there's nowhere near the necessary 50% of the Congress who would actually try and pass such a bill.

That's the problem, isn't it?

It probably won't work, but Lessig has adopted a strategy that at least seems to give it some small chance.

Moving this video to Almanildo's personal queue. It failed to receive enough votes to get sifted up to the front page within 2 days.
