Iraq invaded Kuwait because it owed money that Kuwait lent it, which went into the Iran-Iraq War mostly. When payment was asked for, Saddam pushed for the idea that Kuwait was really the 13th province of Iraq. Signals from the Whitehouse seemed to suggest that it was okay to invade, so they did. However the Whitehouse then realized that Kuwait has huge oil reserves and Saddam could invade Saudi Arabia next, the push for the Gulf War started.

what pisses me off the most is that bolton tells us to think of the kurds that died when it was bush senior's administration that left them there to die after telling them we would provide support and never doing so.

And of course they are using the Kurds and the mass graves uncovered after they invaded Iraq to justify the war which was never the stated reason for going to war in the first place - that was the weapons of mass destruction being launched within 45 minutes claim. This is an after the fact attempt at justification of the invasion, one which sadly uses the bodies of people Bush Snr left to die in the first place as 'evidence'!
