Jean-Marie Le Pen addresses the European Union

Jean-Marie Le Pen's courageous address to the EU highlights the worrisome prospect of a Europe with fewer Europeans.

Nationalism is experiencing a revival in Europe with such parties as: Freedom Party(Austria), People's Party(Denmark), Vlaams Belang(Netherlands), British National Party(UK), Progress Party(Norway), Greater Romania(Romania), People's Party(Switzerland)

The EU has recently opened an immigration center in Mali with the objective of bringing 50,000,000 Africans into Europe by 2050.
Farhad2000says...

Fuck Le Pen.

He hates immigrates, gays, abortionists.

That's why no one is listening and everyone is booing.

Immigration is the price of globalization, if Europeans didn't want so much immigration maybe they would think twice about taking policies that directly damage economies of developing nations. See CAP policy and how it affected agricultural based economies, see WTO regulations between Europe and Developing nations.

But shit it's Pprt posting so why am I not surprised.

Everyone is booing because he's ruffling feathers by holding an unpopular opinion towards immigration.

These same people (and you too) probably would have booed when it came to the suffragettes.

Isn't it quintessentially Western to respect opinions with dignity and respect? There's nothing more European and more civilized than settling differences at the voting booth instead of with a slit throat (unless your "insulting" Islam in your own Democratic country).

I shudder to imagine a world without Europe, because that's the prospect we're looking at right now. Don't guilt anyone for fearing for the future of their nation.

No, they're not. They are booing because he holds despicable opinions, and that is why they are unpopular. Sometimes opinions are unpopular for a reason, and the "ruffling of feathers" you speak so fondly of is nothing more than sensationalism.

But the reaction from the delegates here is not the correct one. Instead of laughing at him, which only makes them seem uppity, they should ignore him and get on with some real policy making instead of the innuendo that has gripped the EU the last couple of years. This right-wing bordering on fascism conspiracy theorist lives in the past, and doesn't deserve more attention.

And this video has nothing to with islam, other than the fact that some of the immigrants might be muslim. Read the channel description. It doesn't belong in humanitarian either, as Le Pen's plans does nothing to alleviate suffering, only to create a protectionist xenophobic Europe.

I'd disagree.

Looking at some recent postings under the Islam channel ("Shoes Hurled at Pictures of Bush", "Bush On Al Qaeda Not In Iraq Before Invasion: "So What?"", "Police officer headbutts woman, attempts to do it again", "Soldier Stops for Juice at a Local Iraqi Shop") I think you'd best get busy fixing those too. Unless buying juice in Iraq is directly related to Islam in your opinion, it looks like you're just removing the channel out of spite.

He talks here of Dhimmitude and bending to terrorists. To claim that Islam has nothing to do with the present and future of Europe is pure ignorance.

The fact of the matter is he is right about the people of Europe disagreeing with what the ruling elite is trying to do. Thank God Irelands constitution allowed them to defend themselves from the Lisbon treaty. Trust me, many other European nations would have voted the same way if they had been given the choice.

I don't claim that. I claim that the content of this video is not sufficient to put it in the Islam channel. He talks of terrorism in general, among them the FARC guerilla, not specifically about islamic terrorism. The main body of the video is about European politics, not Islam as such. Thus the removal. I don't know about the other videos you mention, as I haven't seen them, but when I see a video that doesn't belong in a channel, I remove it. Now it was this one. Nothing personal. If you insist so hard that it belongs in Islam, we can * discuss it. I believe there is precedence for my decision; see i.e. the video that got CP420 banned.

That may be so, and I am even inclined to agree. But that doesn't mean that Le Pen is a suitable spokesman for the people. The European Union is in desperate need of reformation, and the Lisbon Treaty was a part of that. I believe the treaty was a bad piece of work and was rushed through too fast without proper debate. But a lot of the ideas in it were good, at least much better than what Le Pen is proposing. See Farhad's references for what we would get more of with Le Pen in charge.

He is elected, and he was allowed to speak to the parliament. As I commented above, I believe the ridiculing and booing was out of place. The politicians should rather explain their own policies better, so people can make informed decisions about them. His party holds 7 of the 78 seats in the European Parliament, which is something, but hardly a big percentage. I am happy to hear his points in open discussion, but I find most of them despicable nonetheless.

And as a Norwegian, I notice that the integration of immigrants has gone much better in Norway than for instance in France. Immigration is not a new phenomenon in the world, and there are several ways of handling it, some better than others. I'm not saying that migration is problem-free, or that the scandinavian model is perfect, but in today's globalized world it is a bad solution (and some would say unethical) to completely seal oneself off.
