Farhad2000One of the best movies to come out last year, Ellen Page was just incredible. Great film.
Hard Candy is a 2005 film about Hayley Stark, a 14-year-old girl who meets Jeff, a 32-year-old photographer who might be a sexual predator. The two first get to know each other on the Internet before meeting in person at a local coffee shop, which results in a trip to Jeff's home; however, Jeff soon learns that Hayley is not as innocent as she appears. The title "Hard Candy" comes from the internet slang for an under-aged girl.
It is British director David Slade's first feature film, having previously worked mostly with music videos.

theo47Really?
'Cuz I thought it was awful.
IMHO, it was another one of these torture-chic movies like Saw or Hostel masquerading as something with indie cred.
Ellen Page was cute as a button in X3 (which also sucked), so I wanted to like it...but, no.
DeanoI haven't seen it yet but I think the trailer looks promising.
Farhad2000I understand your personal sentiments but I doubt that warrants a full out downvote. But thats up to you.
Anyways, I don't think it was a torture chic film considering no torture actually took place, psychologically maybe but none that was physical. The entire film was carried by the performance of two principal characters, which is so much more then Saw, Hostel, Saw 2, Black Christmas, The Hills Have Eyes and the rest of the shit that masquerades as a horror film.
James RoeI thought it looked like trite crap based on the trailer, no vote yay or nay from me.
theo47FYI, psychological torture = torture.
And if someone asked me if I'd recommend the film, I'd definitely say no -- hence the downvote. Nothing personal, man.
dotdudeThe girl does remove the guy's testicles . . . however the gore is not shoved in your face like recent horror movies that emulate 70s horror flicks. . .
dotdudeI went back to the Wikipedia article. It says she made him think his testicles were removed. I guess I missed that it was a trick. Anyway, it is a rough film to watch.
Farhad2000I can't believe you guys missed that point. The entire thing was faked, she was playing back a video of vasectomy being preformed. So there was no actual gore. I remember the movie more for it's wildly colorful cinematography. Her being the wolf in sheep's clothing which is so counter to usual portrayals. Avenging angel indeed.
Deanore downvoting, I thought that was to express the view that something shouldn't be on the sift but doesn't break the guidelines? For me I would downvote something that I think is absolutely dreadful and a waste of time.
If something makes no impression or I don't like it I'm not using my downvote everytime. Judging from the frequency of it's use I think I have that about right - or do I?
James Roewell some people use the downvote differently. It is widely used to remove things that do not belong on the sift, but if you check out Ant's use of the downvote he is waging a war against the immorality of American culture through it. I mostly use it to hate on things that are the antithesis of the intellectual awesomeness that I typically find the sift to be.
