I remember seeing this effective ad as a child, and it certainly got my attention. If anything, I would have thought this served to smash the myth that AIDS was the 'gay disease', not promote it. I'm sure some special interest group at the time must've taken the opportunity just to bash the media, as I would be very surprised if Australian TV had deliberately attempted to demonised any minority in such a way. At least not in my lifetime.
