Glenn Beck calls Government "Lucifer... the Devil".

Not much attention has been paid by the mainstream press to Glenn Beck's Mormonism, but it has to be known that his religion flavors his politics and his rhetoric.

"Mormon readers (or listeners, as it may be) will probably recognize the last two sentences as a variation on a standard Sunday School theme. The scriptural allusion is to Moses 4:3 (Pearl of Great Price) in which the Lord reveals that in the pre-mortal existence, “Satan rebelled against me, and sought to destroy the agency of man” ".- from http://www.juvenileinstructor.org/the-government-is-the-devil-glenn-beck-and-mormonism-redux/

When Beck recently used the term "The Constitution is hanging by a thread" he was referring to the "White Horse" prophecy of Joseph Smith that says when the US Constitution is "...hanging by a thread", a (Mormon) Church Elder from Zion will ride in on a (metaphorical) white horse and save the country. Make no mistake about this, Beck chose his words very carefully.

Gee, I wonder if there's a Mormon/GOP candidate getting ready for the 2012 elections?

Nithernsays...

There is a mormon GOP canidate getting ready to run for office of the president: Mitt Rommey. That's right ladies and gentlman, Mr. Public-S _ _ t himself. He is/will say anything and do anything to get elected. And he will fail. He failed the 2008 simply due that most conservatives hate mormons (its something to do with mormons not being consider 'real christians').

Yea, I see Christians make fun of Mormans because of that new "crazy shit" they believe in. Apparently real Christians only believe in the old crazy shit.

As much as I have a natural fondness for minority religions in general, the more I learn about Mormonism, the more concerned I become about it. Like other conservative denominations and offshoots of American Christianity--the Assemblies of God and the Jehovah's Witnesses come to mind--it contains dangerous apocalyptic strains and a toxic focus on moral purity--where moral purity is defined less by genuine enlightenment and wisdom and more by adherence to sexually repressive, patriarchal norms.
