To be fair, it was an oversight, not a genuine attempt to pretend 9/11 didn't happen under Bush. He just forgot to add his weasel words.

Also back when he made the statement he followed up by saying "now there has been one under Obama". Apparently talking about the attempted underpants bomber. So why would the attempted shoe bomber of December 22, 2001 not count? No amount of forgotten weasel words could have made that into a true statement.
