Gitmo Won't Be Closed by January as Promised by Obama.

"The White House is acknowledging for the first time that it might not be able to meet President Barack Obama's January deadline for closing the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay. (Sept. 26)" [/yt]

Where's the change? I knew they'd never shut Gitmo. And if they did, it would be moved or renamed or reassigned.

Are you kidding? They are actively working to close the prison, but like the other messes the last administration left, this morass is not so easy to clear. The video's content belies both your comments, as it gives specific reasons---logistical, legal, and political---for the delay.

Bush thought Gitmo was necessary; this president is working to close it. There is no similarity.

"Dictatorship naturally arises out of democracy, and the most aggravated form of tyranny and slavery out of the most extreme liberty."

"One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors."

"Democracy...is a charming form of government, full of variety and disorder, and dispensing a sort of equality to equals and unequals alike." - Plato

This is why we don't live in a democracy, or at least initially. We lived in a constitutional republic with very strict guidelines and rule-sets allocated to the government. "Greater good", unabridged general welfare thinking got us to where we are today. Pass one law to weed out one evil, create 3 more.
