GeeSussFreeKsays...Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
longdesays...Are you kidding? They are actively working to close the prison, but like the other messes the last administration left, this morass is not so easy to clear. The video's content belies both your comments, as it gives specific reasons---logistical, legal, and political---for the delay.
Bush thought Gitmo was necessary; this president is working to close it. There is no similarity.
GeeSussFreeKsays...Except for the LARGER one they are building in Bagram, Afghanistan farther from prying eyes.
There is an old story about a man taking office. He leaves two notes for the next man in line. He said to open the first one when he gets in a bind, and the second if he gets in another.
Time passes and he has the unfortunate occasion to open the first letter. It reads "Blame it all on me". He does, and things move along quite well. But, time moves on and he finds himself in a new bind. So, he is forced to open the second letter to get a glimpse of the pearls of wisdom to be had. It reads "Write two letters...."
BreaksTheEarthsays...I cheered when the Obama hope was elected and now I get to sink back into my apathy. Go democracy.
GeeSussFreeKsays..."Dictatorship naturally arises out of democracy, and the most aggravated form of tyranny and slavery out of the most extreme liberty."
"One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors."
"Democracy...is a charming form of government, full of variety and disorder, and dispensing a sort of equality to equals and unequals alike." - Plato
This is why we don't live in a democracy, or at least initially. We lived in a constitutional republic with very strict guidelines and rule-sets allocated to the government. "Greater good", unabridged general welfare thinking got us to where we are today. Pass one law to weed out one evil, create 3 more.
