From CEO to Delivering Pizza

I find it difficult to feel completely sorry for this guy. Seems he's not very talented at assessing risk, and his decisions have probably put far more people in worse positions. How many news stories are there of the rags to nothing variety? Why should people care more just because he was rich? He of anyone was in a much better position to avoid this.
He probably could have taken a $50,000 a year job or maybe more, but I bet he's waited out for two years for another $300,000+ job. Why didn't they cut back on the luxuries earlier, sell the house etc.
If he's left it this long to start facing the reality, which he will have been a part in creating during his lucrative career, then I just think he's having to learn a lesson in a very hard way, and one that he probably could have avoided if he weren't expecting to maintain such an extravagant lifestyle.

I wonder if that wife of his will take a few days off from the spa and polishing her diamond-dipped SUV to work instead of gasping at his delivering pizzas. Kinda sad how he pretty much calls her a trophy wife to her face and shes ok with it.

I read it as just saying that he felt he married the "right" girl. In spite of all their financial woes, the couple is still together in a world where more then half of marriages fail regardless of income. If I ever get married and am still happy about it fifteen or twenty years down the road, I'll consider her the "right" girl too.

I can't say that I feel sorry for the guy for his situation, but I don't disrespect the man for not being too proud to do what has to be done to get by, in spite of prior affluence.

^ as cynical as I feel towards the riches to rags sympathy, I agree. Love is love, and I like to think that filthy rich bastards can love as well as the rest of us.

of course, as someone who has worked in the service industry for years, I find it a little offensive that he refers to his job and other things in their situation (like food stamps) as things he never thought he would have to do. He makes it sound like he started doing porn or turning tricks. Hey, he gets tips and free pizza for his kids!!
