Flogging Molly is a seven-piece Irish American Irish punk band, that formed in Los Angeles and is currently signed under SideOneDummy Records.
In an interview with Kerrang! magazine, singer Dave King revealed that the band's name comes from Molly Malone's, also known as the LA tarrier, an Irish pub in LA. "We used to play there every Monday night and we felt like we were flogging it to death, so we called the band Flogging Molly." The band started as King played Irish music in bars and pubs. They recruited more members until becoming the seven-person ensemble that they are today. They were signed onto SideOneDummy Records after a show when the record company's owners attended a concert and noted their intensity.

Selektaasays...These guys are great, I've seen them a few times. Sometimes, though, the fiddle player has a look like "what the hell am I doing here with these drunken bastards"
eatboltsays...The music video isn't that amazing, but I do loves me some Molly. I've been to a couple of shows too, and they have to be seen to be believed. They are amazing live.
Pushkillsays...yes I agree, they are actually a really great band to see live, I try to see them as much as possible when they come through town, been to a concert of their's at least once every year for the past 6 years! It's just a really fun, energetic, and drunken show, it's really where this band shines. Having a mosh pit full of people doing a jig is pretty fun.
