I miss the F-14 already....

I believe a previous jet post got into the discussion of the condensation cloud that can form at high speed; the vapor cone formation is independent and not indicative of breaching the sound barrier. I'm noting this just in case anyone was putting the two together while watching this video.

Sonic booms are too cool, by-the-way. Don't translate well onto film, however, but kinda like those flash bang mortar fireworks that just produce a thundering boom that resonates in your chest.

Local mach can exceed 1 on various parts of a subsonic aircraft.
