Make no mistake about it; First Blood was the movie that paved the way for the modern action blockbuster. Sure movies like Bullitt and The French Connection had action sequences, but not nearly as long. Well paced and realistically portrayed, this is what action movies were before the CGI monster devoured them.

I'm actually reading the book now and am quite surprised at the differences between the original story and the movie. As much as I absolutely LOATHE remakes, this one would be a good candidate (but ONLY if they follow the book, and not make some senseless CGI asswipe of a movie...)
