In the Matrix 3, they make reference to this video (the crew seeing the surface, Osiris being attacked) and had she not made the drop with info about the pending attack, Zion would have been caught off guard.

The Osiris short was supposed to be the precursor the Enter ther Matrix video game which was then in turn supposed to be the precursor to the Matrix 2 actually.

Thanks Raytrace, I never knew what Uncanny valley was but now I understand it, I can appreciate it more. :-)

No problem. I found it quite interesting. The first time I watched Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, I felt that there was just something wrong with the whole movie though I could never quite put my finger on it. Then I read about the uncanny valley in one of its movie reviews and everything made sense. It's something that will plague all humanoid 3d characters for a long long time. Just sharing the knowledge.
