Well, I've never heard of that bloke and I'd probably disagree with his definitions of liberty and justice, but the sentiment is spot on. Upvote.

what I was shooting for....

Goldwater pretty much defined the Conservative movement in his book "The Conscience of a Conservative". It's worth reading, if only to see just how much the policies of the current administration differ from actual conservativism - there is a reason they are called "Neo-Cons". He was also John Dean's mentor, and Dean returned the favor with his recent book "Conservatives Without Conscience", his attempt to explain why the Bush/Cheney administration is anything but Conservative.
