Apparently, the Frisian language is very similar to Old English!

You can get by on Old Frisian probably as far east as Hamburg. And if you add some Low German, which is very similar, you've got the entire Hanseatic area covered.

I study the English language, and it's because of knowledge like this in the video, that whenever I hear some dumb American spout: "You'd all be speaking german if it wasn't for us!" I have to laugh. You are all speaking german right now. MWAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!
