With it in 1980, he received the Academy Award for "Best Achievement for Visual Effects" for his designs of the film's title creature and its otherworldly environment..

The James Cameron movie was more Cameron then anything else, Aliens 3 didn't even mention Mr Giger... I believe he ended up suing.
