Massive media misinformation. A 3D Printer has no similarity to a Laser Cutter. The biggest similarity to a commercial laser cutter that is more traditionally used (and usually a lot larger) is a CNC router. Recently, before I took a job at one of the top software companies in the world, I worked at a company that utilized a CNC router so I know for a fact that these machines are usually hooked up to HUGE ventilation system that "sucks" material down (you use other material around the material you are cutting, to cover holes on it's surface to increase pressure) through the machine and out because they are potentially very dangerous, just like a smaller laser cutter in small quarters.... Needless to say, very sad.
