Once you've seen him do it, it's usually easy to pick out the audio cues that the uses to prime his victims and know what they will answer before they do. They're clearly primed to feel some number of touches. I'm not entirely sure about the number three - but he does use a lot of hard "T"s in his words: TrusT, counT, Times, Touch, honesTly.
