Quboidsays...I love this song. I found out about Deep Forest when reading up on Enigma, I now have all their albums. Boheme and Comparsa are forgettable but Deep Forest/World Mix, Pacifique and _MUSIC.detected are excellent. So few people know this group
Farhad2000says...I remember exactly how I got to know about them, am a owl and used to stay up late in Kuwait watching MTV Europe, they had a show called MTV Chillout that ran my kind of music at ridiculously late hours of the night. So one night they played Deep Forest - Deep Forest, and it floored me, I instantly got all their albums as well
Asatruersays...Excellent post! Deep Forest has always been one of my favorite bands, up there with Dead Can Dance. I first heard them, this very song, was on my local alternative radio station. I have never seen this video before today though.
Halon50says...Wow! Not bad for a 15-year-old song and video. This song was the shining gem of a wonderfully relaxing album. Until I listened to it for the first time, I had never heard of open water being used as a percussive instrument for any melody - except for that "drop of water" sound that's sometimes mingled with sonar pings for an oceanic effect.
Speaking of water-like, the only other music that I can think of which reproduces the soothing water effect is Spencer Nilsen's soundtrack called Ecc
