I still have yet to meet anyone who decided to make less money because the government was taxing a large portion of their earnings.

You know, it's way easier for a millionaire to decide to make substantially less money if he doesn't want to be taxed as much. It's much more difficult for lower to middle class to make millions in order to escape paying out their ears in taxes.
