choggiesays...Social policy is geared towards what??!!!!...Hello!!
Election 2008
Noams' allowed to live, just like Mulder's character had to....
(1995 recorded)
dystopianfuturetodaysays...^ Point appreciated. Done.
marinarasays...watched the whole thing.... don't like chomsky or the idea of "class warfare" but this is a very good lecture.
I don't respect chomsky's solutions, and I really dont want to conjure up class warfare. There enough class warfare whether we know it or not.
dystopianfuturetodaysays...Class war is just as wrong as any other kind of war, so you are right in not liking it, but that doesn't make it any less real.
For the record, my avatar is ironic and has several meanings, none of which promote violence. You may message me if you'd like to hear more about it, but in short, my ideal class war happens at the ballot box (baring some kind of nightmarish coup).
The class war Chomsky speaks of is a silent, one-sided war. Our side (the people) can do little to retaliate, as most of us don't even see the war. You may not see it yourself, but if you look closely enough, you'll find evidence of it in the decay of our social infrastructure as corporate profits soar. Chomsky explains this in quite some detail in the post, so I won't belabor it.
Class war is a provocative word, and ironically no more so than to those who actually wage it. They know that the instant we collectively understand this, we will have already won.
This is an alarm call.
marinarasays...I'm glad you dont promote violence. You say just do "war" but this is not supporting violence? I don't really care to hear a rationalization, but is this a well thought out slogan?
Do you want to oppress the lower class with more statistics on how they are screwed every second of their lives? I think you will find yourself at the tail end of the line. The lower class is oppressed by everyone and every corporation, and it's the American way (sad) to find a better way of doing this.
Peace.
choggiesays...Uhhhh...aversion to violence or conflict, is another indicator that everything is going according to plan there, peacey....Class war is a tool anyhow, just like race-baiting, taxation, the steady stream from the cathode ray emission demon, which shapes what everyone here thinks they know about what and who they are- layers and layers of the onion-look behing the curtain, your task-master carries a comfy whip & theres a nice silk pillow with down to kneel upon, when your legs buckles under the weight of so much bullshit, contained between so many sets of ears.
They have the shit down kiddies, the empire never died, and they have had plenty of practice....
Here and Now is the time to cherish-the future of the world system, while we can't get too detailed, is fixed-predictable, and bound by natural laws-
dystopianfuturetodaysays...Marinara, you seem a bit literal minded. Notice the upside down Nike logo on the avatar. Perhaps this is about them? Is Nike part of a larger trend?
The class war I speak of is people vs. the corporate machine. The poor get the worst of it, but all of us are in the crosshairs.
It also seems strange to me that you would describe knowledge as oppression. I'm not sure where you are coming from on this, or in general.
