Children of Men - Uprising

!SETPIECE SPOILER! : This is the climax of Children of Men, and as such you may wish to postpone viewing until you've seen this in the context of the movie.

To understand the importance of the child to the bystanders in this scene, the film takes place in a dystopian future of sterility, with no children having been born to mankind for over 18 years.

This is amongst the most astonishing and realistic scenes I've ever witnessed. Children of Men itself is amazing. If you haven't done so yet, go see it.

SPOILER ALERT!!
I'm about to explain why the soldiers are acting like they are, if you haven't seen the film and still want to, don't scroll down

This film starts out where the entire world has basically been sterile for the past 20 odd years, and the last born baby died in a horrific accident, the entire world is pretty much depressed and apathetic, with war breaking out all over the place.

This scene is where Owens main character loses sight of the mother of the first child born in 20 years, and his attempt to get back in touch with her to get her and the child out of the country and to a research lab overseas somewhere to find out whats unique about her physiology, to allow the researchers to save humanity more or less.

So the soldiers all stop firing and admiring, because its the first baby they've seen in at least 20 odd years or so, they know how important the child and mother are.

Love how its a seamless short from beginning to end, not a single cut. Brilliant camera work.
