Child Abuse by Russian Olympic Coaches

Fear Training in Russia - Young Russian gymnasts training very hard under strict coaches.
"I have to admit there is sometimes FEAR in our training sessions but those fears are not for nothing - They are justified and the training brings good results"

I don't know where the line is, but I somehow feel they are stepping over it!

In the 90s this was commonplace in all post-Soviet countries - pretty much any sport, with any coach. Hitting the trainees for lack of progress/results or misbehaving was the norm. I don't know what the situation's like nowadays, but I can only hope it's changed for the better.

sure.. now they can just use steroids earlier to get results and no beatings. these things resolve themselves

Well maybe if the kids were such little fuck ups they wouldnt need beatings.

Well, Uday and Qusay (sp?), Saddam's kids, regularly beat and sometimes killed their failed Olympic athletes. Although this was about the same time period, so . . .
