(CNN) -- Three days after the world watched a giant balloon fly through the air as a tearful family expressed fears that their 6-year-old boy could be inside, authorities announced what millions already suspected: The whole thing was staged.

Sheriff Jim Alderden announces that criminal charges will be filed agains the Heenes in this press conference on 10/17.

Take that, attention seeking liars!

Meanwhile, I feel a tad bit better that we have delayed being a step closer to Idiocracy becoming a work of non-fiction yet again.

Please, by all means send him the bill for the mess he created. I'm certain he will be able to afford it with his attention whoring skills netting him a book or movie deal soon enough.

Put them in prison for a week or two. Fine them immensely. Do _something_. If we don't then I think sooner or later someone like this might cause some kind of public hysteria. We already have enough sources of anxiety in the media.
