Call of Duty 3 on the Nintendo Wii. Now THAT'S gaming.

Notice how they show fleeting glimpses of the actual game. Because it looks like shit. I am sorry but I hate Call of Duty 3, they are totally beating a dead horse right now. It's not the same people who did Call of Duty 1 or 2, but rather a development contract via the games publish and IP holder. So what you end up getting a basically a re-has of the previous games in new settings. Its still all exactly the same.

The only difference being the Wii Innovations though, and thus I'll upvote it.

Looks Totally -- F'ing -- Annoying to me. Give me my mouse and keyboard, because for over a decade the A,W and S keys, and full mouselook, has been wiring my neurons appropriately.

We dont think about our brain/computer interface at all when playing anymore, it's fully natural.

Look -- it's like he's rowing a real boat!! Except its a little stick of plastic, nothing like an oar, with no drag from water! Look -- it's like he's steering a car! Except he's forced to suspend these items in front of his body and there is no feedback whatsoever.

Neat-O, the kids (and I) will love swinging swords and tennis rackets for the novelty. But leave the serious gaming to the computer, I know we will.

Cross platform gaming would be fun though, it would be great to meet someone thrashing about with their Wii while the 1000dpi Microsoft Laser Mouse puts a laser dot on their forehead.

i bought call of duty 3 for the xbox360 when it first came out... thought the game was same old stuff... didn't interest me any, until i tried the game out on my wii... its amazing how much fun a game gets with innovative controls... hell, i caught myself having a blast with the new dragonball z game for the wii, even though i despise the series and how dull the game was on the other systems.

Mouselook was the best thing that happened to first person shooters.

This interface is a step backwards IMO, far to inaccurate, especially from the sofa. Playing online would mean holding the 'mote up for too long.

Once a keyboard and mouse is adapted for systems like the Wii, and people play online in that context, the choice will be easy.

Personally I've been waiting for an interface like this for FPS games for a long time. Sure I'm used to using a keyboard and mouse, but this looks to be a helluva lot more immersive (not to mention fun). Also, which control system do you think is going to be more easily picked up by a non-gamer?

Plus, kudos to the ad-maker. Takes some balls to use a carrot-top in your ad! ;-)

I played this on my friend's Wii for about 3 hours, and though it was kinda weird at first getting used to the controls, after a little while you get used to it. I was surprised, I actually had a LOT of fun playing it. Though I don't think I'd want to play that way all the time. Also the graphics were a little better than I expected on the Wii considering the way some of the other games look on it, like this one GT racing game that had graphics so bad it looked like it had been ported from a Super Nintendo.

Somehow I found the whole thing a bit morbid.. Sure they're all virtual characters, but for some reason it made me think of the real war and how trivial our wonderful games can make situations that were/are probably intensely horrifying (like wrestling over the control of your rifle with a Nazi) seem in relation to.. well.. how horrid they really were.
