I remember reading a heart-breaking blog once that related a personal story. She called PETA to take her elderly mother's dog because no one could care for it. She was assured the dog was a fine candidate for placement...good natured...calm...in good health....

A few hours later she found a friend who was willing to take the dog, so she called the PETA office to retrieve it. It had been euthanized.

Approximate time of death?

5 minutes after PETA picked it up.

PETA was unable to give the body back - because they no longer had it.

Hmmm... I've generally been a PETA supporter (not monetarliy or anything like that), but I didn't have any idea about most of this... or much else about 'em for that matter, apparently. Guess I'll just stick with ELF. ;-)

And the Hitler like leader of PETA continues to wave a finger towards the future while hiding the amoralist measures to carry out such a future and ignoring those with opposing . . . In case you couldn't tell, I'm insulted PETA used the holocaust. Especially because I'm Jewish.

Although they did forget to mention the hypocrisy of believing animals-eating-animals is OK, but humans (which are animals too) eating animals is bad. And pets create mutual bonds. If my cat wasn't happy why would he keep coming back? I am curious whether PETA ever officially said they're against pets or just hinted at it, though. It makes a difference.

I became disillusioned with PETA after their Holocaust on Your Plate campaign. It was truly idiotic. ALF is crazy, I knew that. But I wasn't really aware that PETA condones violence for animal rights whether explicitly through their unwillingness to denounce violence as a "tactic" or implicitly through their connections with groups like ALF and individuals like Ron Coronado.

Biomedical animal research is hard for some people to understand. There is no alternative to advancing disease treatment, diagnosis and prevention other than approved animal use. The only alternatives are testing directly on people or stopping progress in medicine, which most people with parkinsons, alzheimers, multiple sclerosis, AIDS, paralysis, cancer... probably wouldn't like.

On the other hand, I'm with PETA in opposition of the inhumane treatment food animals often suffer in many slaughterhouses and wildly crowded farms. Medical researchers at universities have very strict protocol approval guidelines and ethical responsibilities concerning the treatment of animals, whereas the killing floor at a slaughterhouses can be gruesomely inhumane with frightened animals waiting to bleed to death in complete agony.

Some people have no sense of irony. The reason the are wearing leather is to show their disgust of the PETA stance. Not becasue they are into S&M. I can't believe someone doesn't know who Penn and Teller are. The've only been around for like 20 years or more by now.

I'm disappointed that Pamalyn Ferdin has become so extreme. She was one of my favorite actresses when I was a boy. She was in a kids TV show called "The Old Curiosity Shop", but most people will remember her as the voice of Lucy from the old Peanuts specials.

I'm a big fan of Penn & Teller, and agree with about half of the stuff they say. This particular episode is one I am in total agreement with.
