Blogger Asserts Copyright, Newspaper Editor Gets Irate

On May 1, a Missouri man named Duane Lester published on his personal blog a post titled "Changes Implemented After MO Auditor Finds ‘Serious Shortcomings' In Holt County Sheriff's Department." 10 days later, the local newspaper for Oregon, Missouri, covered the same story Duane had written about on his blog.

Any public news outlet should know their copyright laws. This old guy is 100% in the wrong.
$500 for the article is nothing compared to the price of a lawsuit.
Pay the writer and learn from your mistakes Mr. Newspaper man.

Why did the guy post this video if everything was sorted out? He got the money, without too much hassle considering who he's dealing with. Just seems a little low.
