rembarsays...Been looking forward to this for a while....way creepier than I expected it to be, though. Excellent!
pyrexsays...Wow what a voice, bit like a dramatic reading at the start, heh. And yeah, rembar is right, a LOT more creepy than I thought. Irrational still got it when it comes to FPS horror games it seems. System Shock 2 still haunts my dreams..
Kruposays...Yes, agreed that it looks cool/exciting.
Great clip.
Peroxidesays...I don't see how this game, Bioshock, is changing the whole FPS scene. I know some of you will hate me for saying this, but, hey instead of money lets call it "adam" and instead of fighting enemies lets pit them against eachother. Well, it seems to me that they're not changing the whole idea of an FPS just the storyline that your charachter follows. Granted it looks creepy, and the Water looks great, definatly buy it if you like water. But I'm afraid my girlfriend would dump me if she saw me playing this, killing little girls and drinking digital booze. Gimme Projectoffset any day over this number.
Farhad2000says...Well Peroxide, the same thing can be said of Project Offset which besides elaborate technical demonstration videos hasn't really proven anything in terms of game play thus far.
While the presentation and style of Bioshock is darker, it's not surprising given it's a spiritual follow up to System Shock. However it's only the final execution of the game that can really prove to be interesting, the girl harvesting dynamic sounds interesting, but it would only work if contextualized within a credible world.
The thing that worries me are the clearly console like interface shown, and to me that kills the game pretty much instantly.
Unsung_Herosays...Peroxide, What you failed to understand was "Changing FPS" means they are changing they way the game feels and interacts. Up until recently all first person shooters were predictable and easy, for a single player that is. When they introduced the multiplayer FPS it took off like a rocket (N64's GoldenEye and Xbox's Halo) Now that they have the technology they are making FPS as realistic as possible by adding awesome graphics such as the water, fire, wind, ect. Another is the AI. No longer will they be boring and predictable but unique, smart and adaptive. They are slowly turning FPS into amazingly Action Packed RPG's.
Kruposays...If it's anything like the System Shock games it'll be an instant classic.
If you haven't played System Shock (1 or 2), DO IT!
Some of the stuff he talked about reminded me of SS2...
antsays...I hope this is good. I loved System Shock 2.
Hexsays...Unsung_Hero,
since you are using console FPS's as an example of multiplayer features I take it that you have never owned a PC and are posting this from your wii
Peroxidesays...K, i will play system shock, i hope i can get it for free, I guess the thing about this game is, for me, that it's another FPS with guns, If Project offset can somehow master FPSwordsmanship, that will be sweeet. Also, i guess im just a fan of Medeival games, and team work games, of which offset will be both, perhaps im just a sucker for some good ol' FPS
