Beluga Gives Birth to Baby In Vancouver 2009
It's a Bouncing Baby Beluga!
A Baby Baluga Whale was born at the Vancouver Aqaurium!
Aurora gave birth to her latest calf at 3:39 PM, on Sunday, June 7, 2009
This newborn beluga is about 1.5 metres long and weighs more than 50 kilograms (at birth)
slate grey -- it will gradually lighten as it matures
wrinkled for the first few weeks!
Trained beluga observers are monitoring Aurora and the newborn calf around the clock to ensure that they have the best care possible.
Aurora is an experienced mom but the trainers and the veterinary staff will still be carefully watching for the first few milestones after a birth bonding and nursing.
(Note this is Not the same footage from the birth in
2008)
